The trailer for a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game has just been released by Platinum Games. It is set to be released in the summer on Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox one, and PC. The game is set in New York, where the Heroes in a Half Shell will be battling enemies with the kind of style that can only be delivered by Platinum Games.
In the game subtitled Mutants in Manhattan, Donatello, Leonardo, Raphael and Michelangelo combine their unique skil sets to defend the city from mutants, aliens, and the nefarious Foot Clan. Classic enemies such as Bebop, shredder and Rocksteady will all play the role of challenging boss enemies. Players can play in four-player online co-op or the single-player campaign. Each turtle has its own unique style of play that can be customized as the player goes along with special items, bonuses and moves.
There is reason to be optimistic about this game due to its pedigree. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan is being developed by the same team that made awesome action games such as The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Vanquish, and Transformers: Devastation. Judging from the trailer, it seems like Mutants in Manhattan is set to keep up with Platinum Games reputation for stylish, chaotic visuals and fast-paced brawling. The game’s art style is particularly reminiscent of Transformers, which had beautiful cartoonish graphics.
It is not guaranteed that this game will be well received, given that platinum games also made a not-so-well received Legend of Koraa game. All in all, the game looks good. Transformers: Devastation was an excellent game not just in terms of a good game play, but also coming up with the right story button and nostalgia. Mutants in Manhattan looks set to follow suit.
