Bethesda studio announces a comics and novel series to tell additional stories and set up the events leading to Dishonored 2.
About a year ago, during a test for Twitch stream, the Arkane team, the developers of Dishonored were accidently caught on a live mic, discussing their plans for Dishonored 2.
After the last year spoiler, the game was relatively under the radar.
Bethesda officially announced a partnership with Titan Comics, bringing us a series of novels and comics. The comic series will be in four parts, and they will take place 12 years after the events of the first game.
The comic will follow Corvo as he searches for an apprentice in the Empire of the Isles. The story is written by Gordon Rennie and the illustrations, and the color will be designed by Andrea Olimpieri and Marcelo Maiolo. The first issue will be released on 4th of August and it will run until October, 2016. A graphic novel, capturing everything in one place will be published on November 29, 2016.
The novel series will be called Dishonored – The Corroded Man. The first novel will arrive in September this year. The focus will be on telling a story of how both Corvo and Emily ended up where they are, prior the events in Dishonored 2. Two additional books with focus on the protagonists are scheduled for release the next year.
Dishonored 2 isn’t the only game that turned to media for help in filling up the story. Blizzard has done the same for a couple of times. Their release of number of digital comics and short animations about specific Overwatch characters was impressive. With the extra content, Blizzard managed to fill the players in who this characters are, and why they have a specific fighting style, a details which weren’t explained in the game itself.
